How the country was before World War II:
We were in the Great Depression.
The National Voting Rights Act of 1965 had yet to be passed, meaning African Americans and other minorities still...

Wow.
Just got my first assignment back for Narrative Journalism.
I got an F on it. I’ve never gotten anything lower than a B before on a jouranlism class assignment. I think this class is going to be kind of tough.

Dear Jess Sparks
Regarding House: I’m glad I’m not in physical therapy school, as House’s cane usage would probably bug me now too now that I know. c: Though, I haven’t even watched House in more than a season.
If you watch the Colbert Report tonight, you’ll get to see one of my professors here at IU. Tom French will be the guest tonight, promoting his new book Zoo Story. He’ll be teaching me about narrative journalism every Wednesday night this semester.

"Lethal Inspection"
Anybody see the new Futurama on Thursday?
Ever since it came back, the show’s been a little… well uneven.
But last night’s episode was pretty great. What a sweet ending! The show seems to have re-found both its groove and its heart, and I hope the writers can keep it up.

Scott Pilgrim!
Well I’m done reading Scott Pilgrim. Now I just have the movie to look forward to. :O
If any of you out there want to start reading Scott Pilgrim but are hesitant because you’ve heard people say things like “it’s for hipster douches”, “it’s for hardcore gamers” or “it’s pretty much manga and I don’t like manga”— just...

I can feel the sun going down around me.
And you can feel it too.
We’ve got time for one game of hide and seek.
All of them against just me and you.
And while I am counting.
I cheat and look out on
The street and see they’re already gone.
They’re all gone, gone, gone.
And I say
Why do we always lose? We always lose.
Why do we always lose? We always lose.

Movie crowd groans when Shymalan's name pops up on... →
I find this more sad than anything.
Say what you want about his last five films. I know they range from okay to downright terrible, but there was a time when it was thought M. Night Shyamalan was going to join the ranks of Spielberg and Zemeckis in the world of great, but joyfully mainstream, directors.
And people we’re not dumb to think this.
The Sixth Sense is not just a great, subdued,...

John Hantz Farms won’t be a typical farm with sprawling fields. Hantz has consulted with agricultural experts at the Michigan State University and the Kellogg Foundation and plans on using all the agricultural ingenuity the modern world can afford to make his endeavor work. His 250 to 280 acres will be split up into “pods” throughout the city and will grow vertically. He eventually...

We had some rain come through the area the night before last and we awoke yesterday morning to find that my parent’s closet and the little room that has all the water junk in it was flooding. Apparently something was clogging the pipes and causing the water to come back through the drain in the floor. This happens every now and then and it...
Some Trivial Thoughts on the Emmy Nominations
Ya’ll see the Emmy nominations? There’s a couple of head scratchers this year, but I am happy to see the Lost recognition, what with Mathew Fox, Terry O’Quinn, Michael Emmerson and Elizabeth Mitchell nominated, as well as Jack Bender for directing “The End”. Say what you want about how that episode succeeded writing wise and as a logical series finale, it was a great...
